My Coaching Practice : How’s it Going?
Over the last few months many of you have asked me how coaching is going, so I want to share a bit about how I think about that question.
❌ Let’s set aside my initial inclination to answer the question in terms of progress versus plan, number of hours coached, revenue & expenses, or similar ways of evaluating a business. These are important, and yet it’s too easy to get bogged down in this stuff and miss the points that matters most, to me, right now.
So, here goes. . . .
🤝 Connecting: I love talking with people about the power of coaching. This conversation is positive, developmentally minded, and forward looking even when the current situation might be tough (a difficult culture at work), confusing (what can I do about this complicated mess?), or scary (I need to keep this job because of my student loans, my family, my health . . . . ).
💡 Learning and sharing: I enjoy being able to spend so much time reading and sharing insights with others about all the valuable tools and perspectives that can help us understand ourselves and our situations better. This knowledge then allows to break tough problems down into manageable pieces, bring in clarity, and ease the fears that keep many of us paralyzed.
And most of all. . . .
🏃♂️ Taking action and having impact: I get to partner with people who take steps that have immediate impact on situations that matter most to them, right now.
✅ So, you know what? It’s going great.
